In the Enterprise Vault Compliance Accelerator / Veritas Advanced Surveillance (CA/VAS) applications, the desire may be present to customize the reviewing action statuses to better align with the organization's workflow and terminology. However, restrictions are present where the option to rename certain reviewing action statuses is grayed out. This article provides an explanation for this behavior and outlines the steps to customize the available reviewing action statuses.

To customize the reviewing action statuses in Enterprise Vault Compliance Accelerator, follow these steps:

1. Ensure the account being used to make changes has the necessary permissions:

   • The account to be used to rename the reviewing action statuses must have the Modify System Configuration permission assigned through an application level Role.

2. Understand the limitations:

   • Certain reviewing action statuses cannot be renamed as they are hard-coded by design. These include:
     • Unreviewed
     • Pending
     • Questioned
     • Reviewed Irrelevant
     • Reviewed Relevant
     • Previous
     • Next
   • The Description field contents of these statuses can be changed.

3. Identify the customizable reviewing action statuses:

   • The following reviewing action statuses can be renamed:
     • Not Appraised
     • Appraised
     • Not Escalated
     • Escalated
     • Closed

4. Rename the reviewing action statuses:

   • Launch the CA client with an account that has the necessary permissions.
   • Navigate to the Configuration tab | Reviewing Statuses sub-tab.
   • Locate the reviewing action status to be renamed.
   • Edit its name and description.
   • Click the Save button to save the changes.

5. Verify the renamed reviewing action statuses:

   • In the CA client / VAS (Thin) client, select the Review.
   • Expand the Filter section if not already expanded.
   • Expand the Appraisal status and / or Escalation status facet, depending upon what action status changes were saved.
   • The new names should be displayed.

Note: the reviewing action status called Appraised is specifically used for appraising items in CA/VAS. Renaming this status may only change the status description and not the name of the button that triggers the appraisal. This is because the status itself does not change.

Additionally, some reviewing action statuses cannot be edited due to their usage in Intelligent Review. The availability and visibility of buttons in the CA client and VAS (Thin) client are not customizable by design. If a reviewing action status is not used, it cannot be removed from the GUI.
