Introduction
Microsoft has officially discontinued the support for Outlook 2010 and 2013, leaving these applications without further security updates or patches. To avoid potential security vulnerability impacts on Veritas customers in the future, Veritas aligns with Microsoft’s decision to deprecate support for Outlook 2010 and 2013 from the December 2023 release. However, Veritas will provide extended software support to its valuable customers and provide guidance as needed in mitigating Outlook 2010 and 2013 specific issues, if any, till December 2023.

Why This Change?
Microsoft has officially discontinued support for Outlook 2010 and 2013 with no extension and no extended security updates, as stated in the following official resources:

  • End of support for Outlook 2010: Microsoft's support for Outlook 2010 ended on October 13, 2020. No further security patches or updates are being provided for this version.
  • End of support for Outlook 2013: Microsoft's support for Outlook 2013 ended on April 11, 2023. No further security patches or updates are being provided for this version.

These older versions of Outlook are no longer receiving security updates. Thus, it is important to discontinue their support to maintain the security and integrity of our services.

What Should Customers Do?
To ensure the continued functionality of WebFolder access to Veritas Alta Archiving, Personal Archive and maintain a secure email environment, customers who are currently using Microsoft Outlook 2010 and 2013 must upgrade to Microsoft Outlook 2016 or a newer version.
