Messages to BCC recipients are not being archived when using Domino Journaling to forward to Veritas Alta Archiving.

Error Message

There is no error message associated with this issue. 

Cause

This issue is due to Domino Journaling forwarding the BCC field in the hierarchical format instead of the SMTP format to Veritas Alta Archiving. This issue only occurs for the BCC field.  The To, CC, From fields are formatted as SMTP type addresses. 

As a result, Veritas Alta Archiving is not able to match the known SMTP address for an archive to the BCC field and therefore these message items will not be delivered to the archive. 

This issue can be seen by viewing the internet headers and looking at the field names:

X-$JournalRecipients field. 

For example:

X-$JournalRecipients: CN=Domino AltaCloud/O=altadom@altadom

 

Resolution

This is a Domino Journaling issue when Journaling to a Mail-In Database. It is recommended to contact HCL for assistance to resolve forwarding BCC as the Hierarchical address instead of the SMTP address. 

Issue/Introduction

When a user is enabled for archiving and they are included on a message as a BCC and the messages are being forwarded to Veritas Alta Archiving via Domino Journaling, the items do not show up in the users archive.
