Description

Specifying email domains in the Arctera Admin console at Configuration > Services > Domains is necessary for the following purposes:

  • To validate email addresses when you create a new account in Configuration > Account Management. This means, to enter an email address for a new or existing user, the email domain must be listed under Configuration > Services > Domains.
  • To allow Direct Migrator to create archives automatically as it migrates data into Alta Archiving (This capability is off by default).

Note: Content that comes into Arctera Archiving via journaling, content collection, Direct Migrator, or our data management team will be associated with an end user's archive if the content contains an email address assigned to a user account (i.e. as a primary or secondary archive alias).  All other items will be associated with the Unassigned Legacy Archive.

All domains have to be added by Support manually.  The only exception are O365 domains. There are 3 provisioning options in Arctera Archiving as seen in the screenshot of User Management:

Once the option Using Microsoft Office 365 is selected the Provisioning tab disappears for managing users via the console.  To configure the Exchange Online Connector select Archive Collectors which opens a separate web browser tab:

Select the 3 dots in the top right of the Exchange Online Connector and select Manage:

Go to the Provisioning and Configuration tab at the top and edit the options in the Domain Provisioning section to either provision all domains or specific ones.

A manual Run Now synchronization needs to be run from the Exchange Online Sync Scheduler tab in order for the new domains to be provisioned.  To perform a Run Now follow Step 9 of the Configuring Exchange Online Sync documentation.

NOTE: It is suggested to use specific domains so that not all of the O365 domains get provisioned unintentionally.  Once provisioned, they will show under My Config -> Services -> Domains.
