There may become a reason that a dedicated route is needed for transferring journal mail to the journal
A Foreign SMTP Domain document provides servers in a Domino domain with information on where to transfer mail destined for external SMTP addresses.
To create a new Foreign SMTP Domain document
1. Open Lotus Notes Administrator.
2. Select the Configuration tab.
3. Expand the Messaging node and select Domains.
4. Click Add Domain.
5. Select the Basics tab and select Foreign SMTP Domain in the Domain type field.
6. Select the Routing tab and enter the journaling domain provided by Support in the Internet
Domain field. {journal.lax.archivecloud.net}
7. Enter the domain name provided in the Internet host field.
{journal.lax.archivecloud.net}
The domain name serves as a placeholder; Domino uses the name to pair the Foreign SMTP Domain document with the connection document you create in the next step.
8. Click Save & Close.
Create SMTP Connection Document
SMTP Connection documents link the virtual SMTP domain specified in a Foreign SMTP Domain document to an SMTP server where mails should be forwarded. Create an SMTP Connection document to associate the Foreign SMTP Domain document created in the previous step with an SMTP server to be used for forwarding mails to our archival solution.
To create an SMTP Connection document
1. Open Lotus Notes Administrator.
2. Select the Configuration tab.
3. Expand the Messaging node and select Connections.
4. Click Add Connection.
5. Select the Basics tab and complete the following following fields:
Connection type Select SMTP
Source server Select the source server name
Connect via Select Direct connection for servers that communicate over LAN connections
Destination server {journal.lax.archivecloud.net}
Destination domain {journal.lax.archivecloud.net}
SMTP MTA relay host {journal.lax.archivecloud.net}
6. Select the Replication/Domain tab and complete the following fields:
Replication task Select Disabled
Routing task Select Mail Routing
Since the same routing task is responsible for transferring messages over NRPC and SMTP, it is not necessary to specify SMTP routing. The source server must have SMTP routing enabled in its Server document. Otherwise, the router discards the information in the SMTP Connection document.
7. Click Save & Close. Replicate the Domino Directory to all severs in the Domino domain.
The changes take effect after the router configuration update. To put the new setting into effect immediately, recalculate the routing tables on all effected servers.
To update the server's routing table, enter tell router update config at the server console. You can execute the same command from the server console in Domino administrator by selecting the Server tab, the Status tab, and Server Console.
